Nathan Wolfe, Regional Vice President — Indiana & Kentucky
United States Marine Corps
Looking back on his 21-year career in the security industry, 91ĘÓƵ’s Nathan Wolfe, Regional Vice President — Indiana & Kentucky, traces his success to the skills and experiences he gained in the United States Marine Corps.
“From the early days of Boot Camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) in San Diego, California, leadership, discipline and being in a band of brothers was instilled in me,” Nathan said. “I built upon those foundational traits during my Marine Corps career and carried them into my civilian career. While I’ve evolved over the past 20-plus years, those traits continue to be my foundation.”
During his four-year enlistment, Nathan served as a TOW Gunner, anti-tank missileman, and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was stationed at Marine Corps Base Hawaii Kaneohe Bay, also served for a year on Okinawa, Japan, and trained at the Combat Arms Training Center (CATC) at Camp Fuji, situated at the base of Mount Fuji.
One of his most-honored Marine Corps achievements took place upon completion of Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) School when his fellow Marines voted for him to receive the class’s Leadership Award. NCO school is a leadership training program that provides young Marines with the knowledge and skills to recognize how personal actions influence processes, to comprehend warfighting functions and their impact on operations and to use communications skills to effectively relay courses of action.
When he transitioned to the civilian workforce, Nathan had to adjust his expectations of others and take a more subtle approach when working with and leading teams to hit the mark.
“As a Marine, you are given a task and you complete it, but it’s more nuanced in the corporate world where you have team members who do not always have the same priorities,” Nathan said. “However, the same traits of leadership, discipline and band of brothers’ mindset all carry over into the 91ĘÓƵ culture. All of these, including the ability to adapt and overcome any obstacles, have helped me succeed.”
