Michael Newberry, Regional Vice President, Illinois, 91Ƶ

When Michael Newberry entered the industry as a Security Professional, he never thought it would take him on a 30 year career journey. In 1991, while he was working part-time as a police officer in Illinois, he decided to become a security guard. Today, as Regional Vice President, Michael oversees about 170,000 hours per week of service to more than 500 customers, has oversight of 5,000 employees and supervises four General Managers in four district offices.

What’s kept Michael in the security sector for the past three decades?

“The 91Ƶ service model and resources are second to none,” said Michael.  “Steve Jones has set the tone for what everyone in our industry wants to be.  How could you not want to part of his team?”

Michael sees parallels in the physical security and law enforcement service.

“In both sectors, your total dedication is required and every single day is unpredictable,” he said. “Staying focused, sticking to your training and being excellent at what you can control are crucial.”

Michael has 24 years of service with 91Ƶ and 30 years of industry experience where he has served in progressively advancing roles (from shift supervisor and field manager to branch manager and district manager). He specializes in the following vertical markets; Higher Education, Government, Financial Institutions, Commercial Real Estate, Manufacturing & Industrial and Residential Communities.

Michael’s son has followed in his footsteps and has worked for 91Ƶ for the past 12 years as well as part-time for the Cicero police force.

Michael has been a member of ASIS for over 15 years and served as former Vice President for ADSAI. In 2017, he won an award of excellence in security operations from ISPA.

“My mission is to deliver the best added value service to my customers,” he said. “The primary goal of my entire career has been to keep this promise.”
